BTC.email / Support · Coming from Gmail

Same keys. A quieter inbox.

Your keys, your labels, and your search operators carry over. Here is where everything lives, what works differently on purpose, and a shortcut sheet to print.

Where things are

In GmailIn BTC.email
ArchiveArchive moves a conversation out of Inbox into the Archive folder. Press e, or y to remove it from the view you are in.
LabelsLabels nest, take a color, and sit in the sidebar. Press l for the open conversation or v for a selection, and Undo reverses a change.
SpamThere is no Spam folder. Your Inbox admits other BTC.email members, the people you write to, the addresses and @domains you allow, and anyone who uses an access code you handed out. Sender authentication still applies, and mail from anyone else is removed when it is checked, never held for review. Block a sender with !, and report phishing from the open message.
FiltersManage filters saves rules for new mail and can apply one to mail you already have.
Send mail asAn alias delivers into your inbox, and your reply leaves from your main address; sending as the alias is not offered. An older alias that has its own inbox is its own From choice, and a reply leaves from the address the conversation reached.
Forwarding and POP/IMAPMail stays in BTC.email: nothing forwards automatically to another inbox, and there is no POP or IMAP access. Forward, f, still sends one message on by hand.
Star, snooze, mute, and Undo sendThe same actions and keys, with templates, a default reply, auto-advance, and a reading pane you can place in Settings.
Search operatorsThe same operators, such as from:, label:, and is:unread. The sheet below lists them.

Moving in

  1. Export your contacts from Google Contacts as a vCard or CSV file and import it under Allowed and blocked senders in Settings. Everyone in it is allowed; names and numbers stay on your device.
  2. Tell people your new address. Writing to someone allows their replies.
  3. Signing up for a service? Expecting mail from allows its address or @domain for a day.
  4. For someone new, create an access code and hand it to them. Their first message with the code in the subject line reaches your Inbox, and they are allowed from then on.
  5. Keyboard shortcuts are on from the start. Turn them off or on again in Settings.

Keyboard shortcuts

Inbox keys work while no field has focus, and ? opens this list in the inbox, showing the keys the current view answers to. Compose and formatting keys work in the composer. Print this page from your browser for a paper copy; the site header and footer stay off the page.

Deliberate differences

Some Gmail features are left out on purpose.

  • No Spam folder, and no one can pay to reach your Inbox.
  • No automatic forwarding to an outside inbox, no POP or IMAP access, and no checking mail from other accounts.
  • One composer open at a time; saved drafts and Undo send keep each message safe.
  • One Inbox, without tabs, categories, Important markers, or Priority Inbox.
  • No chat, video calls, tasks, calendar, file storage, notes, or add-on side panels.
  • No automatic writing: no suggested replies or sentences, nudges, or summaries. Spelling checks stay your browser’s.
  • No confidential mode, read receipts, or account delegation.
  • No dynamic email that changes after it arrives, and no built-in translation.
